The Ecological Reserve El Mirado, also known as “la Montaña”, is located south of the city of San Cristóbal de las Casas, Chiapas. It is a forest pf pine and oak, with template sub-tropical weather that is approximately 25 acres. It also possesses magnificent natural altars, water holes, wild forests, as well as places available to camp, walk and meditate. In this space, Don Lauro leads two anual workshops open to the general public and that coincide with the summer and winter solstice celebration. During these workshops and ceremonials healing techniques and teachings are offered that connect us to the sacred nature of our being and that open the possibility of living a profound personal transformation.
At the foot of the mountain you can find the Niñito Fundador, on which Don Lauro performs traditional healing and energetic cleansing, and the Palapa or the Dojo, a two story hectagonal structure where Energy Classes, Kung Fu Classes, ceremonials and other activities are performed. There are also bird farms and organic orchards where several vegetables are sowed.

Main House of El Mirador
In the main house of El Mirador are hosted people that come to Don Lauro to be healed and that require to spend time necessary for their recuperation. In here are received families coming from the Chiapas jungle or other indigenous communities, people that come from outside seeking a place to rest, as well as travelers from all over the world that attend workshops and ceremonials and that do not have a place to stay at the city. This is a house of healing, service, personal transformation open to you and your family.
Traditional Healing in the Niñito Fundador
Traditional healing, also known as energetic cleansing, is a practice based in a system of natural medicine that has flourished in Mayan culture for thousands of years. It has commonly been used to treat problems with anxiety, depression, mental and emotional disorders and other illnesses or aches. As a Medicine Man, Don Lauro is able to "read" the body of a person, trace the origin of the what ails them and treat it to recover the loss equilibrium.
This type of healing is always a collaboration process that is established between the healer and the patient. We suggest to keep an open mind and a receptive heart so that you can successfully remove those obstacles that cause illnesses in your life. Whoever really wants to heal themselves must be willing to start up their internal pharmacy.

Kung Fu Classes
Mayan-Oriental Kung Fu is a discipline developed by the teacher Lauro de la Cruz that consists in the fusion of the technique, philosophy, cosmovision and the art give of Mayan and Oriental (primarily Tibet and Japan) cultures.

Energy Classes
The energy classes taught at El Mirador have primarely a therapeutic and spiritual growth focus. It is a technique developed by Don Lauro de la Cruz that has as an objective the harmonization of oneself with nature.

Massages and Meditations at the Sphere
The Sphere is a rest area created to give massages and to make personal and group meditations. Don Lauro occasionally performs therapeutic sessions in it.

Zen Walk
The Zen Walk invites you to observe yourself: your mind, your breathing, you nature. In this beautiful garden you can sit to reflect or you can also walk and turn your meditation practice into a active contemplation of the world. This is an open space to which you can attend at any time you wish.
Orchards and Bird Farms
One of the activities inside of the Ecological Reserve El Mirador it's the farming of seasonal orchards and the house raising of ranch birds. We also have a small deposit for collection of plastic bottles for purposes of recycling.
